Gerakan is doing Right and Reasonably. MCA is doing Wrong and Irresponsibly.

In TV news, TS Koh Tsu Kun explained that Gerakan would not be taking up government posts in the Cabinet, but Gerakan members will continue to serve as Ahli Majlis, etc.  This is reasonable.

But MCA DS Dr Chua Soi Lek, on the contrary, appears to be irresponsible by getting all MCA members NOT to take any government posts including Cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, political secretaries, Ahli Majlis, Ketua Kampung, JKKK and Ahli Pelawat HospitalThis is overdoing and irresponsible act!!  How can MCA stop serving the interests of Malaysian Chinese?

I hope that MCA members can ponder upon this issue.

In the press conference, Dr Chua mentioned that “not accepting any government post” was a resolution made during MCA AGM 2011 and 2012, and not a decision by himself or Liow.  Going back to history, it was Dr Chua who first talked about “not accepting any government post” if MCA’s performance in 13GE is poorer than 12GE.  It was Dr Chua who influenced the Presidential Council, and Central Committee to agree with him on this policy matter.  Needless to say, all these Central Committee (Leaders) echo back the similar message to the respective Central Delegates in all Divisions.  Of course during AGM, the Central Delegates being obedient leaders themselves agreed and voted in this resolution.

MCA Leadership of National/Central, State and Division levels must seriously reconsider this policy of “not accepting any government post”.  Not accepting post in Cabinet will be fine.  Not accepting any post in Majlis, JKKK and Lembaga Pelawat Hospital is definitely Overdoing and Irresponsible.

the first Ministers

The very first Ministers of the Federation of Malaya (according to Laporan Persidangan Majlis Perundangan Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur, 18/8/1954) were:
Dato' Onn bin Jaafar - Minister of Internal Affairs;
Dr Lee Tiang Keng - Minister of Health;
Dato' EEC Thuraisingham - Minister of Education;
Dato' Nik Ahmad Kamil - Minister of Local Government, Housing and Urban Planning;
Colonel HS Lee - Minister of Transport;
Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman - Minister of Earth Resources;
Mustafa Albakri Hassan - Minister of Industrial Relations and Society;
VMN Menon - Minister of Post and Telecommunications.

An archived photo of VIPs in 1955 included Tunku Abdul Rahman, British High Commissioner Sir Donal MacGillivray and members of the Cabinet of the Federation of Malaya 1955.

People identified in the archived photo were:
(Seated)(left to right):
C.T. Thomas
Colonel H.S. Lee
Tunku Abdul Rahman (Chief Minister)
Sir Donald MacGillivray
D.C. Watherston
M.J. Hogan
Dr Ismail Dato' Abdul Rahman
(Standing)(left to right):

C. Spencer
Abdul Aziz
A.H.P. Humprey
Sulaiman Dato' Abdul Rahman
V.T. Sambathan

Too Joon Hing.

Questions:
1) Was there a Cabinet change in 1955?
2) Who were replaced? Who were the replacements? Who were the additions?
3) Why Dato' Onn Jaafar who was a top UMNO leader then NOT in this particular archived photo?
4) Is this particular archieved photo INCOMPLETE?

P/S: I am writing based on what I am reading. At this moment, I don't have the answers.
